So I assume that given we have no finals to concern ourselves with there will be a good showing at Hindmarsh for another look at the Steelers. Certainly this is a game that we'll want points from as the return trip won't be too easy.

fark I'm already starting to get excited about this. I'm going to make it my aim over the next week and a half to talk up the ACL as much as possible. At work, with friends, etc.

AU have turned a corner and it's time to get positive again! Fire up farken (too soon farken?)

Oh and should the thread go in the general football section?

i suppose this should go here,

Sarkies and Rudan out.

Quote:
KRISTIAN Sarkies' AFC Champions League campaign with Adelaide United is over.

Mark Rudan also is in doubt after the pair played yesterday for United's Baby Reds at Hindmarsh.

Sarkies, the Melbourne Heart-bound midfielder, broke his leg in an ugly tackle in the seventh minute against Perth Glory. Defender Rudan tore a calf muscle.

also

Quote:
Cassio, meanwhile, said he would devote his Champions League campaign to axed Brazilian "brothers" Alemao and Cristiano.

It seems as though Pohang will be missing a couple of players - Seol Ki-Hyeon and Kim Jung-Kyum, the former (ex Anderlecht, Reading, Wolverhampton & Fulham) received an injury here while training and and the latter returning (or remaining?) in Korea because of a death in the family.

Foxsports FC reckons the likely Adelaide lineup will be:

Galekovic
Jamieson
Fyfe
Cornthwaite
Mullen
Pantelis
Marrone
Leckie

No Griffiths, Boogaard, Cassio, or Barbiero.

Surely best XI here is:
Galekovic
Mullen/Marrone - Boogard - Fyfe - Cassio
Dodd - Griffiths - Flores - Pantelis
VD-Leckie

Pretty much, though I would start Jamo & Cassio on the left with Pantelis on the bench.

tbh the more i think about this match the more i worry that we're going to get smashed, they are the current ACL champs amd we just scraped past them last time.

Adelaide won 2-0 in Pohang, with ten men...

just walked past the Pohang squad as they were gettin on their team bus... They looked pretty damn nervous. I mean, yea it is the opening ACL match, but i figured they'd b confident knowing we finished last in our league... Gna b a cracker tonight.
