A shock. But maybe less so when you consider Melbourne's striker problems in the latter stages of the season, given they've rid themselves of Allsopp and Ney Fabiano.

this has got to be a rumor... why not come home to AU? We could use him, there's no need to over look us.

I recall a story a little while ago in which Bruce was quoted as saying that if he ever came back to the A-League, Adelaide would be the only club he would consider. A year sitting on the bench in Turkey may have changed that. Shame for us if its true.

He did say that but it was only if Nick Bianco was still running the club.

Is there any point in having van Dijk, Owusu AND Djite though? None of them are really suited to play with each other.

Given our other forwards, I'd rather have Burns back than Djite.

well i'm an optimist, so haven't ruled Lloyd out just yet, but not sure i really expect him to produce much.

I guess i'm just hurt by the principle of it all, thinking with my heart, not my head. I want to see him succeed... But it's Victory, ya kno?? Lol. I don't want to see him in those colours, nor see him help them score another W against us... Haven't had much to cheer about recently, and that dagger would hurt so much more.

I hear you. I think in the bigger picture though, if he came back to the HAL with anyone, it'd be an admission of failure at this stage of his career.

And I honestly, sincerely hope he stays in Europe for his career and the Socceroos sake. It's a woeful indictment on our national underage set-up if players with the talent of a Bruce Djite can't take the next step

terry tibbs, what has the underage setup go to do with his overseas performance? He obviously has talent which they have identified the underage setup has done their job he just hasnt gone on with it, which can happen. It’s the same with burnsy.

IMO where we fail is we need to have ten Bruce Djite’s coming through the a-league and one will kick on and become a star BUT its just so hard to pick which one at a young age. Where are our young strikers in the a-league? NON-existent.

I take your point, but I think our talented young players need to be prepared as best as possible for the step up when they leave here. Their A-League coach will be doing what's right for their club.

Their manager will be (presumably) pushing for a move to cash in.

The player will understandably want to take the opportunity to go.

It gives the national set-up a role in trying to advise them objectively, whilst looking after the Socceroos best interest. Bruce is just an example.

Troisi, Burns, even Nikita to an extent all need more club park time and form to push on. We're seeing young talent just up and disappear, and I don't know who can or should be giving them a chance to really kick on.

Speculation that former Adelaide striker Bruce Djite would return from Turkey to join Victory is wide of the mark and it seems last season's A-League runner-up is closing on a foreign player to add to its thin forward ranks.

Val said in the Tiser that AU are going to fight for Bruce and hopefully get him as cover for Owusu. Cover for Owusu i thought Bruce's problem was he was sick of warming the bench?

i hope he comes back to us for six months any more and he might get stuck here!

the down side of vals article is that dodd is on the long term injury list now .

I read Val's article to suggest he's favoured to go to the victory and Adelaide are making a late attempt to get him

One thing i don't get is why all the people we are trialing are all for injury replacements. Don't only have 21 players? What are we waiting for to fill the roster? I get the feeling AU are in talks with someone decent and thats why we're not signing anyone long term at the moment. Fingers crossed
